Coordinated Public Transit - Human Services Transportation Plan
Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) often will serve as a coordinator of various regional initiatives. Within a region, there will be numerous human service providers, such as WorkOne, Family and Children Services, Food Banks, etc. Additionally, beyond a fixed-route bus service, there will be several agencies providing transportation services for seniors, disabled clients, and other mobility providers, such as taxis.
The MPO is required to develop a Coordinated Public Transit - Human Services Transportation Plan, often called a Coordinated Plan. It identifies the initial gaps, needs, strategies and activities necessary to provide public transit throughout the region. It should be developed in cooperation with seniors, individuals with disabilities, representatives of public, private, and nonprofit transportation and human services providers and other members of the public utilizing transportation services.
